Mandate

Responsible for the comprehensive planning and design of urban spaces in Kohat. It plays a crucial role inshapingthecity’sphysicalenvironment,ensuringthatdevelopmentalignswiththe overall vision and goals outlined in the KDA Master Plan.

Responsibilities

        Master Plan Development            & Updates:
  • Lead the creation ,revision ,and implementation of the KDA Master Plan, a comprehensive document guiding the city’s long-term growth and development. Incorporate feedback from stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and government agencies, to ensure the plan reflects the community’s needs and aspirations .Regularly review and update the Master Plan to adapt to changing demographics, economic conditions, and environmental concerns.
       Land Use Studies and                       Feasibility Assessments:
  • Conduct thorough land use studies to analyze existing patterns ,identify potential development areas, and assess the suitability of land for various purposes.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of proposed development projects ,considering factors such as environmental impact, infrastructure requirements, and economic viability.
  • Provide recommendations on land use zoning and regulations to ensure sustainable and equitable development.
  • Tracks and maintains all data regarding
      Urban Design and Street              Scape Planning:
  • Design public spaces, including parks, plazas, streetscapes, and other urban amenities ,to create a vibrant, attractive, and functional city environment.
  • Develop guide lines and standards for urban design, ensuring that new developments integrate harmoniously with the existing urban fabric.
  • Collaborate with architects ,landscape architects ,and other professionals to create innovative and aesthetically pleasing urban spaces.
      Development Proposal                  Review and Approval:
  • Review development proposals submitted by private developers and government agencies to ensure compliance with the KDA Master Plan, zoning regulations, and design
  • Assess the potential impact of proposed developments on the surrounding environment, infrastructure, and community.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers to improve the quality and sustainability of their projects.
  • Grant approvals for development projects that meet the established criteria and contribute to the overall vision for Kohat.
       Housing Solutions:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of diverse housing solutions, including affordable housing initiatives, mixed-income developments, and social housing programs , to cater to the needs of all residents ,ensuring equitable access to safe ,decent, and affordable housing options.

Job Descriptions

  • Director of Planning:          Oversees the section’s operations. Sets strategic goals, and ensures the effective implementation of the KDA Master Plan.
  • Senior Urban Designer:    Leads the design of public spaces ,streetscapes ,and other urban elements, ensuring high-quality and innovative design solutions.
  • Transportation Planner:   Develops transportation plans and policies ,analyzes traffic patterns, and designs efficient transportation networks.
  • Housing Specialists:            Oversee the development and implementation of housing solutions, conduct housing needs assessments, and promote affordable housing initiatives.
  • Environmental Planner:   Conducts environmental impact assessments. develops sustainability guidelines, and integrates environmental considerations into planning processes.
  • Land Use Planner:                 Analyzes and use patterns ,conducts feasibility studies ,and makes recommendations on zoning and development regulations.
  • GIS Specialist: Utilizes Geographic Information Systems(GIS)to analyze data, create maps, and support planning and decision-making processes.
          Key Performance                  Indicators (KPIs)
  • Number of development proposals reviewed and approved within established timelines.
  • Percentage of development projects that comply with the KDA Master Plan and design  & guidelines.
  • Number of public spaces and streetscapes designed and implement.
  • Community satisfaction with the quality and functionality of urban Spaces.
  • Reduction in average project approval time.
  • Measure of the affordability of housing in Kohat relative to household incomes.
